Edward Davey Memorial

A Prayer For Fishermen

I pray that I may live to fish...

Until my dying day.

And when it comes to

my last day,

I then most humbly pray:

When in the Lord's

great landing net

And peacefully asleep

That in His mercy I be judged

Big enough to keep

Gone Fishin'

I've finished life's chores assigned to me,

So put me on a boat headed out to sea.

Please send along my fishing pole

For I've been invited to the fishin' hole.

Where every day is a day to fish,

To fill your heart with every wish.

Don't worry, or feel sad for me,

I'm fishin' with the Master of the sea.

We all miss each other for awhile,

But you will come and bring your smile.

That won't be long you will see,

Till we're together you and me.

To all of those that think of me,

Be happy as I go out to sea.

If others wonder why I'm missin'

Just tell 'em I've gone fishin'

ABOUT ED

This memorial is to my older brother Edward F. Davey Jr., the best fisherman I have ever known.  If you are here, it’s because you found one of the Fishermans keepsake I made in Memory of Ed and his love of fishing. A gift he shared with me, this is my way of sharing Ed’s gift with you.

My brother Ed was born in early March under the sign of Pisces. He had no choice but to be linked to fish and the ocean for his entire life.

From his youth learning how to fish on the South Coast of Massachusetts to serving his country and all of us on the aircraft carrier the USS Saratoga before settling into a career as a commercial fisherman of the coast of New England. Some of the most fertile and dangerous waters in the world. My brother was never more at home than finding the Gulf Stream in Georges Bank and getting set to fish.

If you found this, it is because you’re a fisherman too. I left these in areas that I know only fisherman usually find. Ed was an incredible fisherman.  I hope this token of that love of fishing and the ocean and my love for him finds you much luck, tight lines, plenty of “Keepah’s” and a Southern Wind at your back.

P.S.

If you feel inclined, please leave a comment below and let me know what fish you caught and if you did, what size!

With love,

Sean
